Life On Hysteria Lane

Kicking and Screaming my way to a Better Life….

Pheewww……….. March 7, 2008

Invitations to the presentation…….$29.95.  Cheese, crackers and fruit for 50 people……..$225.00. Doing the thing that scares you…..PRICELESS.

Well folks, I did it!  I made my BIG PRESENTATION last night.  I am exhausted, exhilarated, humbled and proud.  I stood in the front of the room a terrified, sweaty mess and spoke my words (the ones I remembered) the best way I knew how.  I made lots of mistakes, left out half of the information I intended to share, restarted my opening 3 times, and lived to tell.

And what did I learn from stepping outside of the box?

I learned that being imperfect unites us.

I learned that the video guy can hear you in the bathroom if you forget to turn your mic off on your last minute trip to the ladies room.

I learned that most people want you to succeed.

I learned that being vulnerable allows others to do the same.

I learned that we are more alike than we are different.

I learned that I didn’t mind having 3 handsome men trying to adjust my mic (What? They were cute….)

I learned that things don’t always go the way you rehearse.

I learned that teenagers can be proud of their parents.

I learned that supportive friends and family should never be taken for granted.

I learned that a simple nod can be tremendously reassuring.

I learned that it’s never too late to make a fool of yourself.

I learned that one tiny step forward can change the view dramatically
